Founder Mode – Episode 8 - AI-First Product Design with Ritwik Pavan

Episode 8 – AI-First Product Design with Ritwik Pavan

In this week's Founder Mode podcast, Jason and I talked with Ritwik Pavan. He shared tips for new companies to succeed by focusing on AI early on.

What Does AI-First Mean?

Being "AI-first" means you focus on AI from the start when building your product. These products don’t just add AI later. They collect data and adjust quickly to users. It makes the experience feel unique and personal.

Ritwik shared some cool examples. One is an AI tennis partner. It reacts to your hits and helps you improve. Another is an AI chessboard. It moves pieces on its own and teaches chess faster.

“Things that were easy before are now effortless. Things that were hard are now easy. And things that felt impossible are now just hard. Founders need to focus on ideas that used to feel impossible—because that's how you build something special that others can't easily copy.”

Kevin Henrikson

Companies must tackle difficult problems. If you pick something easy, others can copy it. True success happens when you take on problems that seem impossible.

Key Takeaways

1. Tesla’s Smart Move with AI:

Tesla used everyday drivers to collect self-driving data. This gave them an edge over companies that rely on special test vehicles.

2. AI in Our Cities and Homes:

AI helps with real problems, like parking and traffic. It learns from city patterns. It can speed up getting permits to build houses.

3. AI Opportunities:

  • AI can improve sports.
  • It can also boost hobbies.
  • Plus, it enhances home security.

These areas still need innovation. It can even help stop crimes at home before they happen.

4. Investors Want AI Products:

They are looking for tools that customers use a lot. AI companies need to form strong ties with users. This helps ensure steady business growth.

Final Thought

We all agreed that making AI a key part of your product from the beginning is the best way to succeed.

"Don't just add intelligence later. Build smart and build now."
